FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bridgeville, PA and Santa Fe, NM
fi360, in conjunction with Horizons Sustainable Financial Services, are pleased to offer a two-hour session titled “Ethics and the CFP® Certificant: Material Elements, Required Disclosures, and Fiduciary Standards” at the upcoming INSIGHTS 2016 Conference on April 6-8, 2016, in San Diego. This session has been approved by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. for two hours of Ethics CE.*
Johann Klaassen, PhD, CFP®, AIF®, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Horizons Sustainable Financial Services, will present the session. He is a CFP® designee, and was among the first in the nation to embrace the AIF® designation, holding certificate #70. He earned a B.A. from St. John’s College, Annapolis/Santa Fe, and Masters and PhD degrees from the Philosophy Department of Washington University, St. Louis, where he specialized in Ethics and Social Philosophy.
“We all know that fiduciary advisors have the obligation to ‘at all times place the interest of the client ahead of their own’,” Klaassen said. “Perhaps because of the legal origin of this obligation, the most common approach to making this general obligation into specific guidance has been to draw up lists of things that the fiduciary advisor must not do – a set of laws and regulations designed to create a code of minimally acceptable behavior. On one hand, we should all follow those laws. On the other hand, surely that’s not enough!”
